Stephen Agochi Okodudu, a Professor of Developmental Sociology, University of Port Harcourt was born on April 13, 1963 at Ebu, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
He obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC) at St. Paul’s Grammar School Ebu Delta State in 1980 and General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1983. In 1987, 1990 and 1995 he bagged a B.Sc (Honours), a Master of Science (M.Sc) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) respectively all in Sociology from the University of Port Harcourt, Choba. He also attended Galilee International Management Institute Israel in 2014 where he obtained a PGD in Human Resources Management.
His working experience includes Part time Correspondent/Reporter, Radio Bendel (1981 – 1982), Assistant Editor, Editorial Operations, Sunray Publications (1993), Lecturer University of Port Harcourt (1993 -2010) and Professor of Sociology of Development with Specialisation in Developing Societies Uniport (2010 – date). Within and outside Uniport, he has been Member and Chairman of various Committees as well as Editor of many reputable publications between 1998 and 2019. Steve has authored and co-authored many books and journal articles and involved in many developmental researches, consultancy and facilitations.
Steve was also the Secretary of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU), Uniport Branch (1997 – 1999), Dean Student Affairs Uniport (2004 – 2006), Member of Senate Uniport (2008 – date), Director College of Continuing Education (CCE) Uniport (2011 – 2015) and recently appointed the Ag. Vice - Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt on July 13, 2020 a position that has also enabled him to become the Ag. Chairman of U & C Microfinance Bank Limited.
